Yarkadaş: “Partisan media is trying to foul up CHP with their lies.”
CHP Istanbul Deputy Barış Yarkadaş said “The news that appeared at Sabah and Takvim are entirely fabricated… The people who came up with these lies should apologize to their readers.” Yarkadaş has also used harsh phrases in his statement.
CHP Istanbul Deputy Barış Yarkadaş, whose name also appeared on the headlines of Sabah and Takvim, stated that the news consist entirely of “lies and fabrications.” In both news entries made by Erhan Öztürk, it was stated that CHP deputies got into a verbal argument and exchanged blows after the meeting that took place at the CHP General Headquarters on the night of 16th of April. Yarkadaş made these statements: “They tried to make our colleagues in Ankara who were observing CHP to write the same story. But our colleagues who knew I wasn’t there by the time and who also knew I wouldn’t use such strong language, didn’t take part in this fabrication. I thank them…
The ones who tried to foul up CHP turned to Istanbul when they couldn’t find journalists to use in Ankara. This time; they utilized Erhan Öztürk who has previously published fabricated news before.
“Its a stale lie”
Sabah-Takvim reporter Erhan Öztürk, as if he found a huge news material, published the alleged news for April 16th on May 8th. If you are going to publish lies, you might as well publish them within a day or two following the incident. Even your lies are stale! Filling the headlines with news that allegedly took place 21 days ago, is nothing but disrespect to the reader. The reader of Sabah and Takvim has been forced to read a “Stale lie” for news this morning.
“Make your source public..”
Now the reporter of the news Erhan Öztürk must make public his source for the news, that are entirely fabricated and slanderous. One of the core principles of journalism; if your news are proven fake, you must disclose your sources. This rule was established to prevent these type of fabrications and manipulations. The headlines with Erhan Öztürk’s signature are fake.
He has proven it with photographs
I wasn’t at the general headquarters on April 16th, I was in Istanbul. Within the alleged time frame of the incident, I was at the Istanbul Ateşehir District Election Board, informing the citizens of the ongoing process. Subsequently, I made contact with HALK TV and told them that we were observing the counting of votes in Ataşehir. The same night, as seen in the pictures, I attended the counting of votes in Ataşehir. After the counting was finished in Ateşehir, I went to Ümraniye District Election Board. There, we tracked the process together with our deputy, Gamze Akkuş İlgezdi; looked after our votes.
“If they take a look at the social media..”
Sabah and Takvim reporter Erhan Öztürk could have checked my Twitter, Facebook or Instagram accounts to see where I was that night. When the intention is to be a triggerman instead of a journalist, one doesn’t feel the need to search for the actual facts.
“It is an immoral and a dishonest fabrication…”
In this regard, us exchanging blows and curses with my fellows in struggle, Aykut Erdoğdu and other MPs, is also a dishonest, vile and immoral lie. The ones who can’t prove the accuracy of this lie as well as the ones who keep on using this lie, deserve to share the same epithets. SABAH and TAKVİM will either prove the things they have written, will disclose the source of the news or will accept the epithets I have stated. These lies which can be taken as attacks against the unity of our party CHP and our General President Honorable Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu will not be successful. Respectfully announced to the public…”
