CHP Istanbul Deputy Barış Yarkadaş has evaluated the situation regarding the decision for re-apprehension of the defendants and the investigation for the wafer commercial through his Twitter account:
“Just as the defendants, including Atilla Taş and Murat Aksoy, were about to be released after being kept in prison for 8 month, a great pressure was formed over the judiciary. It was alleged that Ministry of Justice and the Supreme Board of Judges and Prosecutors (HSYK) was also dragged into this, after the campaign initiated over Twitter.
An absolute vileness took place regarding the rule of law yesterday night. 21 people who were decided to be released got arrested in front the prison once again, due to an investigation that was opened at midnight.
If there were other accusations regarding these individuals, the prosecutor might have clarified these while the trial was still going on. Apparently; the judiciary was pressurized that night and a new investigation was opened to arrest these individuals.
I can’t think of any terms to logically or legally explain the things that took place.
After the incidents of yesterday, the judiciary that already went through a trustworthiness erosion, has entirely lost its reliability. This shows that there is no mechanism to protect the rights of the citizens anymore, since the judiciary gave in to the pressure and fabricated a new investigation to arrest the individuals once again, after they have already been detained for eight months.
Today, the individuals who didn’t approve of the release decision and enforced a new decision, will resort to the same tactics regarding the ELECTION RESULTS tomorrow.
The public should evaluate the things that are taking place, and decide accordingly.
The government that doesn’t even trust the judiciary which is under its own command, is in a state of paranoia.
This state of paranoia became so intense, that they started to think there is a coup plot looking at a wafer commercial. The government that opened an investigation for the wafer commercial, has lost its’ bearings to consolidate the number of YES votes.
The government proponent writers are creating nonsensical scenarios and say that President Erdoğan will be kidnapped with an helicopter, thinking that such scenarios would bolster the YES votes. This, before everything else, is an insult to the office of the President and Erdoğan himself.
A country cannot be run with this psychological state. Government and its’ proponents should immediately calm down; leave the nonsensical scenarios aside and stop pressuring the judiciary.
The partisan media is committing a crime, influencing the judgement by targeting the judges over social media.
This appears in the Article 277 of the Turkish Penal Code.
The prosecutors should immediately take action and open investigations against people who are influencing the judiciary.
If there is no justice everything else is meaningless. We all want to trust the justice system. We can’t tolerate this vileness!”
