CHP Istanbul Deputy Barış Yarkadaş stated that the governments suppression is visible on every level of life, and that the green pitches also received their share from this suppression.
Yarkadaş showed that the football world is also being pushed into polarization with an image he shared. CHP Deputy, shared a picture of Kovancılar Spor football team, who are competing in the 1st Amateur Division, walking into the pitch with a ‘YES’ banner.
‘If TFF (Turkish Football Federation) President acts like this…’
Yarkadaş who drew attention to the scandalous banner, has said “According to the UEFA and FIFA directives, the clubs or players can’t carry any kind of political or religious symbol or writing. The banner that the football team brought to the field is scandalous, it is vileness.”
Yarkadaş who reminded that the TFF President Yıldırım Demirören recently made public that he is going to vote ‘Yes’ to the referendum, has said “An individual who resides at the pinnacle point of Turkish football must preserve his impartiality. He is not a president of a football club, he is the president of all clubs. Yıldırım Demirören has shamed both himself and Turkish football. He should resign before wasting more time.”
Yarkadaş who pointed out that Elazığ Kovancılar Spor has gone on to the field with a banner saying “In spite of all the NO-ists, Kovancılar Spor is saying YES”, has said:
“Going on to the field carrying this kind of a banner constitutes a disciplinary crime according to the directives of UEFA and FIFA. This is one of UEFA and FIFA’s most delicate policies. I am curious to see whether our football federation will do anything regarding this issue? We will all wait and see.”
‘Dopinged Federation President’
Yarkadaş who reminded that Hidayet Türkoğlu has been elected the Turkish Basketball Federation President even though he is not allowed as he was punished over doping, has said “there is an injection of malignity and discrimination on every level of sports.”
CHP’s Deputy who argued that this banner by itself is already enough for deciding to vote ‘NO’, ended his speech by saying:
“There is an immense suppression on fields of business, arts, politics and sports in our country. This suppression is going to increase exponentially, if the constitution that foresees a presidential system prevails in the referendum. If the presidential system is put in place; the president might decide on which team stays in the division and which team gets relegated. To say the least, could a team that the president wishes to see remain in a certain division, be relegated?
It is blatant that a person who assigns HSYK (Supreme Board of Judges and Prosecutors), AYM (Constitutional Court), Members of the Parliament, is going to want to have more of a say in the football and sports world. This doesn’t appear far when looked at the football players and managers who started ‘Yes’ campaigns. I want all of our citizens to rethink about this banner once again and decide accordingly. We shall all say NO to polarization and discrimination.”
