CHP caucus member Saliha Sera Kadıgil has been released…
CHP caucus member Sera Kadıgil, who was sent to the court with a request for her arrest, has been released. Kadıgil when leaving the courthouse said, “still justice, still freedom, still ‘NO.”
Kadıgil, after her release, was met by the party members at the exit of the courthouse. Kadıgil said “I was put on trial for ‘provoking the public for grudge and enmity.’ This wasn’t my fault, it was the individuals’ fault who took out and made public specific sentences from five or six tweets I tweeted. Their intention is to polarize this society. I will never serve this cause. I sincerely apologize to anyone if I did something wrong throughout this period.”
‘They are trying to intimidate the people who will vote ‘NO’
CHP Istanbul Deputy Barış Yarkadaş who made comments outside the courthouse has said “The tweets of people who shed tears for the leader of the Fetullahist Terror Organization between 2010-2013 still remains on Twitter. When there are no actions taken regarding those tweets, opening an investigation on Kadıgil for reasons that doesn’t even constitute a crime, is called intimidation.”
CHP’s Yarkadaş continued by saying:
“Since the early hours of the day, our referendum policies were tried to be convicted and the ‘NO’-voters were tried be intimidated through Kadıgil’s case. The justice organ perhaps with a directive, included Sera Kadıgil’s tweets from 2010 into the investigation. If the tweets since 2010 are going to be examined and investigated in this country, all of the politicians from the governing party should be put on trial and arrested.”
‘What will happen to those who shed tears?’
CHP’s Yarkadaş added:
“The tweets of people who shed tears for the leader of Fetullahist Terror Organization because he had an operation from his left eye, still remains in the social media. Even though there are no actions taken regarding those tweets, opening an investigation against Sera Kadıgil for reasons that doesn’t even constitute a crime and portraying her as if she’s a criminal, is a typical strategy to intimidate the public who will vote ‘NO’ to this referendum.
This intimidation trial has been punctured with the robustness of Sera Kadıgil, our party, and all patriots. We will not abstain from saying ‘NO.’ Even though the government is trying to guide the justice system with its’ opression, somewhere along the way this trend will cease, and it did in Kadıgil’s case. Tonight a mistake has been averted. I hope there would no longer be such mistakes.”
