Yarkadaş: “People are paying for the campaigns out of their own pockets, AKP and MHP on the other hand are using government funds.”
CHP Istanbul Deputy Barış Yarkadaş said “AKP and MHP is harming the state budget. They are throwing around publics money.”
Barış Yarkadaş who continued campaigning in Istanbul’s Beykoz District visited the artisan shops in the area and asked for NO votes, along with CHP Beykoz District Head Mahir Taştan.
“It is the people’s fish, not the government’s”
CHP’s Barış Yarkadaş who offered grilled fish to the public at a stand in İncirköy District, said “The money for these fishes were accumulated collectively. Not even a single penny was taken from government funds. They are absolutely safe to eat.”
‘The money was honestly generated’
Yarkadaş stated that they have given away four thousand grilled fish sandwiches in four hours and added “It tastes better when the fish and the onion to prepare these sandwiches were bought with an honest buck. The public that knows there is no dishonesty in these fishes consume them with joy.”
Two day deficit is two million TL
Yarkadaş stated that AKP’s and MHP’s referendum campaigns are harming the state budgets and said “The last example to this is the closure of the Avrasya Tunnel. The government lost two million two hundred thousand TL in two days.”
Concrete deficit
Yarkadaş who pointed out that Avrasya Tunnel was closed because of AKP and MHP’s rally, said:
“On one side, there are people who collectively chip in money to buy fishes, on the other there are people who spend publics money as if it is their own. Look; the tunnel that was closed for two consecutive days cost the government two million two hundred thousand TL. The state has been deprived of this money. Since the company that built the tunnel was guaranteed 68.500 cars a day, the money for those 137 thousand cars in total must be reimbursed from government funds. What right do you find in yourselves to spend away publics tax money like this?”
“A droplet in an ocean…”
Yarkadaş aslo pointed out that the numbers he purveyed only constitutes a small percentage of all the expenditures of AKP and MHP, and added “The government is being obstinate with the public and trying to enforce the public to vote Yes.”
Yarkadaş stated that all government institutions were mobilized to promote Yes and said “Governors, mayors and administrators are forcing the public to vote Yes.”
Yarkadaş also indicated that civil servants are forcibly being taken to rallies and added “Civil servants cannot voice their thoughts since they don’t want to be laid off by decrees. Forcing an individual to go to a rally he doesn’t support isn’t any different than torturing that individual.”
‘It is absolutely vile’
Yarkadaş proved that public funds were mobilized to put together AKP’s Yenikapı Rally that took place on Saturday, with a video. In the video, it is seen that Üsküdar Municipalitiy vehicles are accompanying the AKP convoy. Municipal police with their official uniforms, carry YES banners along with AKP proponents.
Yarkadaş reacted to this scene and said “This is what a single party state looks like. Turkey, with the hand of AKP is being dragged into an absolutely vile situation.”
