CHP Istanbul Deputy Barış Yarkadaş said “The Palace was obliged to admit and accept the NO win. Still they keep on threatening the public.”
They asked for the NO votes
CHP Istanbul Deputy Barış Yarkadaş has continued his referendum campaign in Sancaktepe, along with Sancaktepe District Head Alper Yeğin and other CHP Deputies Gürsel Tekin, Enis Berberoğlu and Mahmut Tanal. CHP Deputies who asked the public for their NO votes, handed out flyers.
He reacted
CHP Istanbul Deputy Barış Yarkadaş who made comments over social media after his referendum efforts in Sancaktepe, has reacted to the Presidency Principle Adviser Mehmet Uçum’s comments.
The Palace’s plan B
Yarkadaş stated that Uçum’s interview with Kübra Par for the Habertürk Newspaper points to “two crucial facts”, and said:
“The Palace’s Principle Adviser Mehmet Uçum has disclosed President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s plan B. Uçum in his interview says ‘If NO wins, we should understand where the public’s hesitations are and come up with a better model.”
This sentence suggests that the Palace has accepted the fact that NO will prevail and is making plans accordingly.”
Referendums until YES wins
Yarkadaş pointed out that the other significant remark from Mehmet Uçum’s comments is the following:
“The Palace’s lawyer, Uçum’s comment also points to another subject. The Palace is planning on enforcing new referendums on the public until they get the outcome they want; aiming to achieve the regime they have in mind using oppression and persuasion. In short; the Palace is planning on dragging Turkey into a referendum cycle until they achieve the outcome they want. This plan means disrespect to people’s will and it means not accepting the outcome from the ballots.”
Threat to the public
Yarkadaş also indicated that there are certain threats to the public between the lines of Uçum’s remarks and added “ The Palace says, you are enforced to go the ballot box until you accept what I want. Our people will not submit to this threat and will make NO prevail in the referendum.”
Harm to Turkey
Yarkadaş pointed out that the message “Even if NO wins, the President will still violate the constitution” can be understood from Mehmet Uçum’s comments and said “This kind of a perspective is making a great deal of harm to Turkey.”
‘Get some fresh air’ advice
Yarkadaş underlined the fact that everyone should respect the outcome of the referendum. Yarkadaş who suggested that Uçum’s comments are “dangerous indicators”, said:
“Uçum, in case NO prevails at the ballot box, suggests that a change is still necessary as if the public itself hasn’t made this decision. My advice to him is that he should not stay in closed spaces for extended periods of time and get some fresh air; because apparently he is not realizing what he is saying.”
