CHP Istanbul Deputy Barış Yarkadaş said “The government is promoting attacks against the people who will vote NO. They are smirking after every attack.”
Yarkadaş has reacted against the attack on CHP members that took place in Beykoz, saying:
“Around 1:30 am, CHP Beykoz District Head Mahir Taştan was fired at three times while he was hanging NO posters.
Our friends informed the Police Headquarters of the license plate of the car that was used in the attack that took place in Kavacık, Beykoz.
Our friends confirmed the license plate number to be 35 AZ 834 and personally went to the police headquarters to report the incident.
The police arrested the individuals soon afterward. A blank cartridge pistol was found on the suspects.
It was understood that the attack was performed with the same pistol. Our CHP District Head Mahir Taştan, Youth Branch Head Kenan Otlu, Parliament Members Aydın Gündüz, Deniz Yıldız and Kerem Ersin and other members from our party have filed a criminal complaint against the suspects. Unfortunately, all three suspects were released after the prosecutor took their testimony. The attack that took place at night showed that the government is responsible with its pronged and toxic language.
The government calling the NO voters ‘terrorists’, ‘traitors’, ‘demons’ and other similar names is inviting if not promoting these violent behaviors. The suspects being released all around Turkey after they commit such attacks is encouraging this behavior. The government hasn’t even once condemned these attacks up to this point.
This suggests that the government isn’t feeling any discomfort regarding the attacks. The public is being clamped while the oppression by the government over the NO voters still continues. Regardless of what they do, our people will not allow a single man regime or the abolishment of our republic.
The government that promotes this behavior and the individuals who smirk after every attack will be remembered with disgrace..!”
