Istanbul University Law Faculty student Ali Gül was arrested based on messages sent through a fake Twitter account.
Gül stated that it wasn’t his account that the messages were sent from and that a target has been painted on his back because he made a “No” video.
‘NO video painted a target on his back’
CHP Istanbul Deputy Barış Yarkadaş made public Ali Gül’s arrest through his Twitter account and reacted to the arrest.
Yarkadaş wrote:
“Ali Gül who is a member of the POWERFUL PARLIAMENT Platform renowned for its’ NO video, has recently been arrested. The reasoning is familiar: Yes, you’re not mistaken… Of course an accusation of insulting the president… The partisan media has painted a target on his back yesterday; Gül was hastily arrested today.
Prosecutor, instead of calling M. Ali Gül for his statement, directly made him be taken into custody, and proved how effective partisan media is on the justice system. Muhammed Ali Gül was arrested based on the writings on a Twitter account of which the owner is unknown. The Office of Informatics might have found the owners of the tweets using a “matching” application. These weren’t performed. Partisan media asked for it, Ali Gül was arrested.
Muhammed Ali Gül is only 21… He was arrested based unlawfully based on a law that is nowhere to be found anywhere in the world. If Muhammed Ali Gül didn’t take place in the production of the Powerful Parliament Platform’s video; he wasn’t going to be targeted by the partisan media and he wasn’t going to get arrested! When Muhammed Ali Gül, strongly expressed NO and reached out to the public, he was suddenly faced with accusations. And was portrayed as target.
These are the realities behind the scenes of the arrest of our young friend. To say NO and to promote NO are sufficient reasons to be portrayed as a target… The individuals who painted a target on Muhammed Ali Gül shall know that NO will prevail. Yesterday, Samet Burak, who is 19, was released from the Silivri Dungeon. M. Ali undertook the watch. We will engrave NO breaking through the dungeons.
