CHP Istanbul Deputy Barış Yarkadaş made public that the unity cards that were sent to the journalists in prison haven’t been delivered. Yarkadaş said he will make a criminal complaint about the officials.
CHP Istanbul Deputy Barış Yarkadaş, who is continuing his referendum campaign in Kartal, has visited the artisans along with CHP Istanbul Provincial Head Cemal Canpolat, CHP PM Member Hüsnü Süslü and District Head Erdal Kıskanç.
They have sung anthems
A large group of party members who accompanied Yarkadaş, have sung the İzmir anthem; subsequently, Yarkadaş attended a debate at TGRT News TV.
Yarkadaş, during the debate called “Yüzde Yüz Gündem”, argued that the rights of the journalists in prison have been arbitrarily usurped and added:
“Many of our colleagues, including Cumhuriyet Newspaper writers, are unquestioningly being held in prison. Cumhuriyet Newspaper writers have been trying to find out why they are being imprisoned for the past 145 days. The prosecutor hasn’t prepared the bill of indictment for 145 days. Obviously he can’t find anything to write on that bill.”
Yarkadaş, during the debate in which AKP Deputy Mehmet Metiner was also present, continued by saying:
“The things that our journalist friends are experiencing aren’t limited to these. Although there is no such provision within the statutory decrees, the journalists aren’t being allowed to write or receive letters. This is an entirely arbitrary practice.”
Yarkadaş who indicated that they, along with the families of the journalists, have sent unity cards to the journalists in Silivri Prison, the week before, has said “It was brought to my attention today that the cards haven’t been delivered. The justification is just ridiculous…” Yarkadaş said “The reason why the cards weren’t delivered was because there were no individuals with those names in the prison’s database.”
“Have they evaporated?”
CHP’s Deputy has reacted during the debate on TGRT that was presented by Sami Dadağlıoğlu, by saying:
“The people who haven’t delivered the cards we have sent with the families are making fun of our minds. There are no records for those journalists..? Where is Ahmet Şık, Akın Atalay, Musa Kart and Turhan Günay if they are not in prison? Have these friends of ours evaporated? We do not accept this arbitrariness.”
Yarkadaş stated that they are going to take legal action with their lawyer Turan Aydoğan about the individuals who haven’t delivered the cards.
He will tell the minister
CHP’s Deputy also criticized the fact that Caricaturist Musa Kart is not allowed to share his drawings with the public. Yarkadaş also added that he is going to inform Minister of Justice Bekir Bozdağ regarding these issues with a written letter. Yarkadaş also stated that he will carry these issues to the GNAT once again.
